We tried the impossible today. We tried to film the entire first scene before it got dark and the entire last scene before it rained. Mary leaves on tuesday so we needed to do this; and tensions were high for a lot of the day. We were fighting the clock so we had to move fast, and our lack of crew meant that everybody, especially Drew and Fry had to work extra hard.
With all that said, everybody did a fantastic job and we got nearly everything we needed. We only need to pick up 5 shots on Monday night.
Mark and Mary are amazing. Because of everybody running around so much, they both have to hold boom or slate every once in a while. They are amazingly professional and consistent. It seems like if we get the behind the camera stuff right, we have a usable take. I can't say enough about these two; it seems like they've known each other for 15 years. In one crucial shot today, to summarize how wonderful Mary is doing, Drew said, "in 11 seconds, Mary just made me fall in love withe her and than she broke my heart."
I have a feeling this movie is going to get a person or two to squirt a tear, even if that person is just me and my dad. Speaking of my Dad, this movie wouldn't be running nearly as smooth without him.
Danielle is the only non film person on our set. Being a journalism major, this is her first attempt at production but she is absolutely they best producer I could ever want.
This set is a wonderful place; People come to me all the time to talk about how much they love the rest of the crew.
Check in tomorrow.
