We're almost at Picture Lock!

Hey everybody! I haven't updated the site in a while, but I want to say that this final month before the screening is going to be very busy. Ryan Sun, the editor, and I are almost at picture lock, meaning that we almost have the film looking exactly right. For the next three or so weeks John Stecker, the sound director/editor, will be creating the soundscape for the movie. After the sound is right, we will take the movie for color correction that will fix some of the color issues with the piece.

I have to say, the run time of the rough cut was 27 minutes. My original goal was 20-25, so the 27 minute run time was a little long. With thanks to Michelle and Eran, the senior project teachers, the movie is now 21 minutes! They helped me get a fresh set of eyes to the whole thing. I looked at each frame of the movie, each line, each scene, each cut, and asked myself if it is completely necessary to the story. I found, that a lot of information was being repeated so we found things to cut. The result is a focused, complete 20 minute project that I feel is very strong and complete.

I hope to see a lot of people at the screening at the end of the semester. The two screening days are May 6th and 7th but I'm not sure what time I have yet. When I do I'll be sure to post it. However, I hope you try to make it out to both days because there are a lot of really great senior projects this year and it should be two days of good film and cheap popcorn.

Thanks for reading everybody! I'll be sure to post soon.

Kevin
